Episode 71: The Farewell
Billi, A struggling young woman learns that her Grandmother has stage four cancer and that her family is gathering in China to be with her one last time. However, in Chinese culture it is common for people who receive terminal diagnosis to be kept in the dark about the severity of their condition, at least until things become impossible to ignore. So the family is using the wedding of Billi's cousin Hoa Hoa as an excuse to gather everyone together. The film explores a good deal of the cultural differences between the east and west, the nature of loneliness, and the inexorable march of time that ushers in changes no one can stop no matter how hard we might wish it.
